There are some limits in the free plan that have consequences for the data you can use in your destination (i.e. your Looker Studio report or BigQuery report).
Limits
For each account you switch to ON, the data is collected and made available to you. But the following limits apply to the free plan:
- Weekly automatic data collection: Data is automatically collected only once every 7 days, counting from the day you register
- Moving window: There is a moving window of 182 days
Weekly automatic data collection
The weekly automatic data collection means that Cervinodata will automatically start the data collection every 7 days. This means that you might not always see the most recent data in your destination.
The example below shows the consequences of the weekly automatic data collection combined with the moving 182 day window.
Moving 182 day window
When you switch an account to ON on the day you register (let's call this day 0), the data is automatically collected from day -182 to day 0 (so from 182 days in the past until the current day).
- On day 1, you will see the data from day -181 to day 0
- On day 2, you will see the data from day -180 to day 0
- On day 3, you will see the data from day -179 to day 0
- On day 4, you will see the data from day -178 to day 0
- On day 5, you will see the data from day -177 to day 0
- On day 6, you will see the data from day -176 to day 0
- On day 7, the weekly data collection is automatically triggered and new data is made available for you. In you destination there is data available from day -175 to day 7.
- This sequence is automatically repeat every 7 days.
As the example above shows that on day 3, there is no data available for day 1, 2 and 3. This is caused by the weekly automatic data collection. On day 7, after the weekly automatic data collection is completed, your data will be available from day -176 to day 7. This process repeats itself automatically, every week (from the day you register).
To avoid the moving window
To avoid the moving window, you need to move to a paid plan. The Essential plan is as low as 29 euros per month and includes 2 years of data retention (instead of 182 days). Go to the subscription page.
To avoid the weekly data collection
You can manually trigger the data collection process.
For Looker Studio users, Klipfolio users or API users
- Go to the Manual data refresh page under Organise
- Select the account(s) you wish to refresh data for
- Press the button "Refresh data of selected accounts"
When pressing the "Refresh data of selected accounts" button, the data collection process is triggered and the data of the last 182 days of all switched ON accounts will be collected and made available to you. For example if you press the manual refresh button on day 4 of the example above, the data from day -178 to day will be made available to you in your Looker Studio report, your Klipfolio data source or your Cervinodata API end point. You can move to the Essential plan to enable daily data collection (and 2 years of data retention, the first of January of last year) for these destinations. Go to the subscription page.
For BigQuery users
- Go to the Sync to project page in Cervinodata (under DELIVER > Google BigQuery)
- Press manual refresh
When pressing this button, the data collection process is triggered and the data of the last 182 days of all switched ON accounts will be collected and made available to you in Google BigQuery. For example if you press the manual refresh button on day 4 of the example above, the data from day -178 to day 4 will be made available to you in BigQuery. Should you need a daily and automatic synchronisation of your data to BigQuery (and 2 years of data retention: January first of last year) you can move to a paid plan including BigQuery. Go to the subscription page.
